Zafer Mutlu

Assistant Professor, Materials Science and Engineering

Zafer Mutlu is an assistant professor of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Arizona. He conducted his postdoctoral research in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley, from 2018 to 2022. He received his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of California, Riverside, in 2016. His research interests include design, synthesis, characterization, engineering, electronic device applications, and large-scale, system-level integration of nanoscale and quantum materials, including 0D molecular systems, 1D molecular wires, graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) and heterojunctions, and carbon nanotubes (CNTs), 2D layered materials and heterostructures, and other quantum materials.

Research Interests

Nanotechnology, nanoelectronics, nanoscience, beyond CMOS, transistors, high-performance logics, quantum information technologies, quantum sensing, quantum devices, and nano-/quantum materials, including 0D molecular systems, 1D molecular wires, graphene nanoribbons/heterojunctions and CNTs, and 2D layered materials/heterostructures
